DOME
In der Architektur bezeichnet man Gewölbe mit nur einem Scheitelpunkt als Kuppel oder Dom. Ihre Kulturgeschichte ist mehr als tausend Jahre alt und findet bis heute Ihre Anwendung in riesigen Stahlbetonkonstruktionen mit über zweihundert Meter Durchmesser. In den Anfängen der antiken Architektur waren die Dimensionen materialtechnisch bedingt, wesentlich kleiner. Das wohl besterhaltene Kuppelbauwerk der Antike ist das römische Pantheon, das unter Kaiser Hadrian im Jahr 118 als Götter Heiligtum fertiggestellt wurde. Seine Rotunde mit der überragenden offenen Kuppel von über 43 Meter Spannweite ist der wichtigste architektonische Bestandteil und hatte bis in die Neuzeit Vorbildcharakter. Sakral- und Museumsbauten wurden oft mit dieser herrschafts-architektonischen Finesse ausgestattet und mit viel Pomp in Szene gesetzt. Nicht nur wegen ihrer monumentalen Außenwirkung sondern auch wegen ihrer repräsentativ opulenten Innenwirkung. Kuppelbauten haben in ihrem Innenraum meistens phantastische Lichtverläufe und verzaubern so ihre Besucher. Sie hinterlassen nicht selten eine psychologische Wirkung von Größe, Macht und Anmut. Dies im Bild mit verschiedenen Architekturbeispielen festzuhalten war mein Bestreben. In der Auswahl sind Kirchen, Moscheen und Museen enthalten, die sich durch extreme Innenraumgestaltung auszeichnen.
In architecture, vaults with only one apex are called domes. Its cultural history is more than a thousand years old and is still used today in huge reinforced concrete structures with a diameter of over two hundred metres. In the early days of ancient architecture, the dimensions were much smaller, due to the materials used. Probably the best preserved dome structure of antiquity is the Roman Pantheon, which was completed under Emperor Hadrian in 118 as a sanctuary of the gods. Its rotunda with the towering open dome of over 43 meters span is the most important architectural component and had up to the modern times model character. Sacral and museum buildings were often equipped with this architectural finesse and staged with much pomp. Not only because of their monumental exterior effect but also because of their representative opulent interior effect. Dome buildings usually have fantastic light patterns in their interiors and thus enchant their visitors. They often leave behind a psychological effect of greatness, power and grace. My aim was to capture this in the picture with various examples of architecture. The selection includes churches, mosques and museums with extreme interior design.
