VERTICAL MARKS
In „Vertical Marks“ suche ich bewusst nach Spuren der Auflösung, des Zerfalls – es gilt eine Art Patina der Straße zu finden. In der reinen Betonung der Vertikalen entsteht das minimalistische Prinzip der Strenge und des Erhabenen zugleich. Inspiriert von Barnett Newmans Vertikalbildern habe ich diese Grundform für die Darstellung des Ausschnitthaften gewählt, um kontemplative Bildinhalte besser ansprechen zu können. Aus der Einfachheit und Monotonie der Grundkonstruktion des Bildes selber kann intensiveres Sehen hervorgehen. Es lädt ein, die Wirklichkeit im Detail aufs Neue zu entdecken.
In “Vertical Marks” I consciously search for traces of dissolution, of decay - I have to find a kind of patina of the street. In the pure accentuation of the vertical, the minimalist principle of strictness and sublimity emerges at the same time. Inspired by Barnett Newman's vertical paintings, I chose this basic form for the depiction of detail in order to better address contemplative pictorial content. From the simplicity and monotony of the basic construction of the picture itself more intensive seeing can emerge. It invites you to rediscover reality in detail.
