AQUATERRA
Mit dem Titel „AquaTerra“ habe ich ein Fotobuch realisiert, das Motive aus der Grenzregion zwischen Wasser und Land zeigt. Es sind Detailansichten von Küstenarealen aus verschiedenen Ländern Europas, Afrika, Asien und Amerika. Insel- und Küstenländer, die an ihren Randzonen mit diesem Grenzraum umgeben sind. Wasser und Land mit Ihren wechselseitig beeinflussenden Ökosystemen sind charakterbildend für die meisten dieser Regionen. Abgesehen davon, sind diese Küstenstreifen nicht nur ökologisch von enormer Bedeutung sondern auch ökonomisch, beispielsweise für die gesamte Tourismuswirtschaft.
Die Schönheit dieser Areale gründet auf der Tatsache, dass sich hier zwei Polaritäten in Form der Elemente von Wasser und Land gegenüberstehen und sich mit ihrem ureigenen Charakteristikum austauschen und verbinden. Weich trifft auf hart, nass auf trocken, warm auf kalt, bewegt auf massiv usw. Es ist die Begegnung zweier Urelemente, die auch visuell viele Besonderheiten und Reize hervorbringen. Dazu kommt noch das spezifische Umfeld, das klimatologisch, geologisch oder geografisch bedingt, einen Beitrag für ihr Erscheinungsbild leistet. Es ist ein Bild-Portfolio in dem ein kleiner Weltausschnitt sich einen globalen Auftritt verschafft und jeweils ihre eigentümliche Sphäre präsentiert.
Under the title “AquaTerra,” I have created a photo book featuring images from the border region between water and land. These are detailed views of coastal areas from various countries in Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas—island and coastal nations whose peripheries are bordered by this transitional zone. Water and land, with their mutually influencing ecosystems, define the character of most of these regions. Moreover, these coastal strips are not only of enormous ecological significance but also of great economic importance, for example, for the entire tourism industry.
The beauty of these areas stems from the fact that two polarities—in the form of the elements of water and land—confront each other here, exchanging and merging their unique characteristics. Soft meets hard, wet meets dry, warm meets cold, moving meets solid, and so on. It is the encounter of two primordial elements that also visually produces many distinctive features and charms. Added to this is the specific environment, which, due to climatic, geological, or geographical conditions, contributes to their appearance. It is a portfolio of images in which a small slice of the world makes a global statement and presents its own unique sphere.
