GEHRY
Die zwei Fotoserien aus Bilbao und Weil am Rhein ist eine Hommage an den Architekten Frank O. Gehry. Als Protagonist und Hauptvertreter des postmodernen Dekonstruktivismus ist er ein Architektur Choreograf ersten Ranges. Baukörperformen im klassischen gibt es für ihn nicht und die „Form follows Function“ Ideologie hat er frühzeitig ad acta gelegt. Seine Architektur hat skulpturalen Charakter, vielmehr, er lässt sie tanzen. Seine ersten Entwürfe sind oft nur zerknüllte Papierwerke, die dann über entsprechende Algorithmen von 3D Software baureif gemacht werden. Zugleich Experiment und Umsetzung per Excellence. Seinen internationalen Durchbruch hat er mit dem Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein geschafft. Es ist ein Spiel mit verdrehten Baukörpern unorthodox aufeinander gestellt. Eine Architektur mit Überraschungseffekt, die auch beim zweiten oder dritten Blick nicht gänzlich erfasst werden kann. Allerdings immer seine spezielle Gehry Signatur hinterlässt.
Sein Meisterstück das Guggenheim Museum steht in der baskischen Metropole Bilbao. Es wurde 1997 eröffnet und hat für die Stadt und die Region Unglaubliches bewegt. Bis heute sind Touristenschwärme unterwegs und wollen diesen avantgardistischen Museums-Prachtbau sehen. Interieur, Exterieur und Materialeinsatz alles zusammen ein Erlebnis von höchster Güte. Man spricht noch heute vom sogenannten „Bilbao Effekt“weil es eine ganze Region vom Abseits gerettet hat. Seine Formenvielfalt, sein technisches Arrangement sucht seinesgleichen und ist kongeniales Pendant für die in ihr ausgestellte zeitgenössische Kunst.

He is an experimenter and implementation genius for excellence. His international breakthrough came with the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein. It is an architectural game with twisted structures placed unorthodoxly on top of each other. An architecture with a surprise effect that cannot be fully grasped even at second or third glance. However, it always bears the special Gehry signature - one could say ``chaotically ordered``.
His masterpiece, the Guggenheim Museum, is located in the Basque metropolis of Bilbao. It was opened in 1997 and has moved unbelievable things for the city and the region. Tourist swarms are still on their way today and want to see this avant-garde museum building. The interior, exterior and use of materials all combine to create an experience of the highest quality. Even today one speaks of the so-called ``Bilbao effect`` because it has saved an entire region from economic and cultural isolation. Its variety of forms, its technical arrangement is unparalleled and is a congenial counterpart for the contemporary art exhibited in it.
